Friends Of The Jackson County Main Library Used Bookstore

The used book store operated by the Jackson County Friends is located on Main Street, across from The Sylva Herald, in the heart of downtown Sylva. Known as the Friends On Main we are staffed by friendly volunteers. The book store is open year-round, seven days a week, closing only for New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. We stock a wide variety of books, magazines, music, CDs and videos, all donated by members of our community. Books on tape and large print books are also available. The proceeds from the store support both the existing Jackson County Public Library and our new library, soon to be built adjacent to the old Jackson County Courthouse on Courthouse Hill.

We are an all volunteer organization whose purpose is to promote literacy and reading through support for the Jackson County Public Library.

Friday - Saturday 10:30AM to 8:00PM

Heinzelmännchen Brewery

Heinzelmännchen are gnome-like creatures found in the Black Forest of Germany. They are rarely seen, however always helpful to creatures and people alike. According to german folklore the Heinzelmännchen visit proprietors during the night to assist with chores, so the proprietor has more time to give back to their community.

Dieter Kuhn, Certified Brewmeister, was born and raised in Heidelsheim near the Black Forest of Germany. As a little boy Dieter was sent to the local brauhouse to pick up the week's worth of beer for his family. He also grew up with an uncle who malted grain for beer, so the desire for wholesome, fresh ales was instilled in Dieter very early.

The taste of a fresh, natural beer was difficult to find in America, so Dieter began home brewing as a hobby. Receiving positive feedback from friends and family, his passion to have his own brewery grew.

Established in 2004 Heinzelmännchen Brewery, Inc brings to you fresh hearty ales, made with wholesome grains, fresh hops & no preservatives. Dieter with his wife, Sheryl Rudd, invite you to stop by the brewery for a keg or growler or enjoy by the glass at a WNC restaurant.
