Spring Street Cafe Reopening

Description: Hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Sunday brunch. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and we’ll be open for coffee, baked goodies and desserts between 2 and 5 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

**a reception for artist Phyllis Jarvinen, whose art will be on display from Jan. 26 to March 26, on Saturday, February 20, at 6:30 p.m. (this is also a fundraiser for the Land Trust for the Little Tennessee) and a book signing event on Thursday, Feb. 26, in conjunction with Heinzelmennchen Brewery and City Lights Bookstore to celebrate the release of Sheryl and Dieter\’s cookbook. 3rd Annual Father Daughter Dance Set for February 5th

A Father-Daughter Valentine Semi-formal Dance sponsored by the Downtown Sylva Association is planned for Friday, February 5, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Sylva Christian Life Center. Fathers and daughters of all ages can enjoy a night out together with great music, dancing, and door prizes. Desserts and drinks will be served.

The cost is $25 per couple, $5 for each additional daughter. Advanced registration is preferred. Cost at the door will be $30 per couple, $5 for each additional daughter. Corsages will also be available for purchase for $5 each. Couples will receive a complimentary photo to remember the evening.

Please send in the registration information form and payment by February 1, 2010 to be a part of this memorable dance experience.

Description: Mountain Biz Works will also offer
its Foundations Business Planning
course for anyone interested in
starting their own business
beginning January 25 at 6 p.m.
The classes will be held at the
Sylva office of Mountain BizWorks,
200 Marsh Lily Drive in the
Dillsboro Court.

Participants will
study the development of a
mission statement, cost
estimation, profit goal setting, cash
flow, marketing, licensing, and
record keeping. Throughout the
course participants receive
supportive feedback and group
encouragement.
Sheryl Rudd will facilitate the
course. She has owned three
successful small businesses in the
last 15 years. From two service
oriented companies to a
manufacturing/retail/ wholesale
company these experiences give
her a broad background to work
with many types of businesses.
The class will meet eight
consecutive Mondays from 6-9
p.m. Space is limited and preregistration

Friends of the Library 1/2 book sale! open to public

Title: Friends of the Library 1/2 book sale! open to public
Location: Jackson County Public Library
Description: open to the public
After the 1/2 price sale January 14 -
16, Friends of the Library Bookstore will be
closed from Sunday, Jan. 17 for annual
refurbishment and renovations to Friday,
Jan. 22 when the store will be open for
business with regular hours. While the store
is closed, Jackson County Public Library will
accept donations. If the donation is a sizable
one, please call the store at 586-1221 when
it reopens on Friday, Jan. 22.
