The Downtown Sylva Association and downtown merchants will celebrate this Saturday from 2:00-5:00 pm with trick or treating, cookie decorating at Annie’s, spooky stories at City Lights, puzzles at the Friends of the Library, and Halloween coloring at the Jackson County Library. Stop by Heinzelmannchen for a root beer or birch beer treat. Come out and enjoy an afternoon in your community filled with fall colors, festivecostumes, spooky stories, loads of candy, and much more.
Trick or Treat on “Treat Street” in downtown Sylva on October 31st. The Downtown Sylva Association and downtown merchants will celebrate Halloween from 2-5 pm with trick or treating, cookie decorating, story time, puzzles, coloring, and more. Come out and enjoy an afternoon in your community filled with fall colors, festive costumes, spooky stories, loads of candy, and so much more. Further details to come by the end of the week so stay tuned.
The 2009 Christmas Parade theme is, “A Storybook Christmas.” Applications will be available by the end of day Friday, October 16th. The Parade will be held in Downtown Sylva at 3:30 pm on December 5th. Pictures with Santa will be from 12-3 pm. More details to come.
Get ready for the 2nd annual Chilly Fest at the Bridge Park in downtown Sylva, TOMORROW, October 10th from 12-5 pm. Start your day off at the Farmers Market in the municipal lot next to the Bridge Park from 9-noon. The Chilly Fest will feature 3 live bands including Home Remedy, Mac Brown and Kevin Tuck, and Vertigo Jazz Project as well as a number of creative arts and crafts vendors.
The Chili Cook-off will take place from 12-3:00. Winners will be announced at 3:30. This event is open to the public. A $5.00 donation is suggested for those interested in participating in the chili cook-off tasting and voting in the People’s Choice and Best Booth in Show categories. Chilly Fest t-shirts will be on sale throughout the event. All proceeds will benefit the Downtown Sylva Association and the new Jackson County Main Library Complex.
